Team Asenso-Bacolod and Team E.L. C.I.D. are scheduled to hold their opening salvos in two separate areas in Bacolod City tomorrow to start the 45-day campaign period for local candidates.
The Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bacolod City passed a resolution yesterday granting the request of Asenso-Bacolod for the full road closure of Hernaez, Lacson, and Lizares streets from 12 noon to 10 p.m. for the team’s opening salvo at Paglaum Sports Complex tomorrow.
The team is headed by congressional candidate Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, mayoralty candidate Greg Gasataya, and vice mayoralty candidate Claudio Puentevella.
Meanwhile, vice mayoralty candidate Renecito Novero of Team E.L. C.I.D yesterday said their group, led by mayoralty candidate El Cid Familiaran, will be holding their opening salvo at the Bacolod City Public Plaza at 6 p.m. tomorrow.
Novero said come-backing congressional candidate and former Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia will be joining their line-up. “We have formally adopted him (Leonardia)….so he is officially part of the group by way of sentiment, conviction, and vision for the city.”
Novero said Team E.L. C.I.D. is an acronym which means Empowered Leader Committed to Integrity and Development. Their group, composed of independent candidates, is planning to hold a press conference tomorrow at Portia’s Store, Libertad Extension (near BIR) at 9.a.m. They also plan to hold a motorcade tomorrow afternoon.
On the other hand, the Commission on Elections in Bacolod will be joining the synchronized nationwide Baklas Operation starting tomorrow to remove illegal campaign materials posted by supporters of local and national candidates for the May 12 elections.*
