The Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) has received the ten electric vehicle (EV) patrol units, marking the city’s transition toward integrating green technology into its law enforcement operations.
Mayor Greg Gasataya previously stated that the city government allocated a total of P14 million for the procurement of the units, which are scheduled to be distributed among the city’s ten police stations.
He said the e-vehicles are aimed to modernize law enforcement equipment and reduce operational costs amid the current fuel crisis.
He added that each unit features a 201 hp (150kW) motor and a 63.2 kWh battery, providing an approximate range of 490 kilometers on a single full charge.
The vehicles are equipped with specialized technology for police operations, including 360-degree cameras and sensors, keyless entry, AC/DC charging capabilities, and a comprehensive airbag system for officer safety.
Gasataya said that this transition to an electric fleet is a strategic step toward sustainable peace and order operations, making Bacolod the first city in the Negros Island Region to utilize EV patrol cars.*
