Two female doctors from the Bacolod City Health Office (CHO) are now facing formal administrative cases following show cause orders against them by the City Legal Office.
According to City Legal Officer Atty. Karol Joseph Chiu, the doctors are being charged with violations of the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees, also known as Republic Act 6713, and Conduct Prejudicial to the Best Interest of the Service.
The administrative proceedings stemmed from two separate incidents involving the healthcare professionals.
One doctor was reportedly the target of a complaint by CHO staff for allegedly using foul and abusive language against colleagues.
The second doctor was subjected to a complaint by a rape victim’s mother who alleged that the physician made highly insensitive remarks during a medical consultation.
Chiu said that the city is currently waiting for the two doctors to file their respective appeals or formal answers to the charges.
Once the documents are submitted, the city government will commence formal hearings to determine the appropriate disciplinary actions.
Chiu also noted that the four employees from the City Engineer’s Office facing sanctions related to negligence involving hardened cement in a government warehouse have asked for an extension regarding their case.*
