The faithful in the Diocese of Bacolod welcomed the Pilgrim Icon of the Virgen sang Barangay at the Our Lady of Victory Parish in Victorias City, Negros Occidental on October 5.
The Viajera of the sacred icon to various vicariates and parishes, San Diego Parish in Silay City, Queen of Peace Parish, Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish (Estefania), Saint Jude Thaddeus Parish and Shrine (Alijis), San Juan Nepomuceno Parish (Sum-ag), San Antonio Abad Parish (Abad), and Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Bacolod City, San Juan Bautista Parish in Bago City, will continue until October 13. It will then be brought to the national convention of the Barangay sang Virgen Movement at Ayala for an opening mass.
This year culminates the 75th Jubilee celebration of the Barangay sang Virgen Movement. The sacred icon has traveled to several dioceses around the country and has returned home for a significant event. An Episcopal coronation of the sacred image was presided over by Bacolod Bishop Patricio Buzon on March 25 at the San Sebastian Cathedral.
Furthermore, October 16 has been officially declared a Solemnity in honor of the Virgen sang Barangay in the Diocese of Bacolod. A Pontifical Coronation of her sacred image by Papal Nunio to the Philippines, Archbishop Charles John Brown on October 16 at the San Sebastian Cathedral in Bacolod City.
