A team from the Bacolod City Engineer’s Office (CEO), Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO), and the Bacolod Environmental and Natural Resources Office (BENRO), joined the Commission on Elections’ (Comelec) special task force Baklas in removing illegally posted campaign materials in Bacolod City yesterday.

The operation, which will continue until today and follow a weekly schedule, will focus on removing illegally placed campaign materials from public sidewalks, electric posts, and trees in compliance with election regulations.

Present during the activity were Bacolod City Comelec officer Atty. Revo Sorbito, Provincial Comelec officer Atty. Ian Lee Ananoria, and Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) City Director Col. Noel Aliño Coronica. Also taking part were DRRMO head Dr. Anna Maria Laarni Pornan, BENRO OIC Ma. Fe Trespuentes, and representatives from the City Engineer’s Office, including Engrs. Rex Alunan and Mariles Nicolasora.

The Baklas initiative is part of Comelec’s nationwide effort to ensure a fair and orderly election by enforcing regulations on the proper posting of campaign materials.*
