Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez has instructed the Bacolod City DRRMO to provide transportation support for Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and Department of Health (DOH) personnel, ensuring assistance reaches affected LGUs and facilitating the delivery of essential food and non-food items to affected communities, a press release from Bacolod PIO said.
The directive follows the regional meeting led by OCD-6 Director Raul Fernandez, which convened 70 participants via Zoom to address the situation and coordinate disaster response efforts.
Face masks and soup kitchens are identified as the most urgent priorities for the affected areas of La Castellana and Bago City, Negros Occidental. In the absence of face masks, Director Fernandez advises using wet cloths as a temporary measure.
Local government units are urged to respond promptly despite communication challenges.
Affected LGUs are currently following Operation Listo guidelines for Alert Level 3 emergencies.*
