Mayor Greg Gasataya said that the Bacolod City government is in the final stages of preparing for the implementation of a four-day work week for government employees, following a recent directive from Malacañang.
The mayor convened a meeting with various department heads to discuss the logistical adjustments and operational requirements of the transition.
“We’re assessing and finalizing everything then if necessary, because the memorandum of the office of the president is recommendatory,” he said.
Gasataya stated that the city is seriously considering a memorandum to compress the work week for City Hall employees with extended daily hours, while exempting those who provide essential basic services.
The mayor said the city remains open to the President’s recommended work schedule, taking into account economic pressures like rising utility and fuel prices.*
