The Bacolod City Government started distributing free school supplies at the Education and Training Center School (ETCS) 1, 2 and 3 in Bacolod City yesterday.
The ceremonial turn-over was led by Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez along with Councilors Jude Thaddeus Sayson, Al Victor Espino, Vladimir Gonzalez, Jason Villarosa, Simplicia Distrito, Israel Salanga, Cindy Rojas, and Lady Gles Gonzales.
Espino, chair of the Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Education, said they are targeting to distribute free school supplies to 42 public schools in Bacolod City from Kindergarten and Grades 1 to 6, which will benefit about 65,000 students. From ETCS, they proceeded to other schools to also distribute free school supplies.
He said they have tried their best to distribute school supplies on time. Previously, they were not able to anticipate the increase in the prices of school materials, which caused some delays. They were also able to double the budget of school supplies for each student from P200 to about P400 this year.
Each student will receive one plastic envelope containing 10 notebooks, one box of pencils, a sharpener, one box of ballpens, and pad paper.*
