The Bacolod City Host Lions Club successfully launched “Run to Rise 2025,” a fun run that kicked off the observance of Mental Health Week, one of the priority advocacies of Lions Club International at Megaworld’s The Upper East in Bacolod City on Sunday.
Hundreds of runners, families, and advocates gathered early in the morning to join the meaningful activity, which featured 1KM Run with Pets, 3KM, 5KM, and 10KM categories. The event brought together people from all walks of life, running not only for fitness but also for a cause — to promote mental health awareness and community well-being.
The 1KM Run with Pets was a standout highlight, as fur parents proudly ran alongside their pets, spreading joy and positivity throughout the route. The sight of wagging tails and cheerful smiles perfectly captured the event’s theme of health, connection, and compassion.
“Run to Rise is more than a race — it’s a symbol of hope, healing, and togetherness. Through this run, we aim to remind everyone that caring for our mental health starts with small, joyful steps — and we rise higher when we do it together,” said Jade Distrito, president of the Bacolod City Host Lions Club.
Proceeds from the event will support the club’s ongoing mental health and community wellness programs, further strengthening Lions Club International’s mission to promote health, service, and humanity.
After the run, participants enjoyed freebies like massage by VCSC, free breakfast and ice cream and a short talk on Mental Health Matters by Councilor Em Legaspi Ang, past council chairman of Lions Club International 301 Philippines.
The event wrapped up in high spirits, marking a meaningful start to Mental Health Week 2025.*
