The city legal officer of Bacolod City has tendered his courtesy resignation to Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, which will take effect today.
Romeo Carlos Ting yesterday said he has already informed the mayor of his plans since last month. He did not disclose the reason for his resignation but said that he plans to return to private practice.
Secretary to the Mayor Karol Joseph Chiu was appointed by Benitez as officer-in-charge of the City Legal Office effective today. The mayor also appointed Marty Go as Secretary to the Mayor after Chiu’s appointment as acting CLO.
Ting was chosen by Benitez as City Legal Officer when the latter was elected mayor of Bacolod in 2022.
Meanwhile, Benitez extended his sincere gratitude to Ting for his invaluable service to the City of Bacolod.
“Since his appointment as City Legal Officer in June 2022, Ting has demonstrated exceptional skills, dedication, and professionalism, helping uphold justice, accountability, and the rule of law. His contributions have been instrumental in our efforts to make Bacolod a truly outstanding city,” he said.
As he now transitions back to private practice, we respect his decision and recognize the significant impact of his work during his tenure. Bacolod is deeply thankful for his dedication and expertise, which greatly benefitted our city and its people, Benitez said.*
