Bacolod City market vendors take center stage

Sunday’s Market Day celebration during the MassKara Festival honored Bacolod’s hardworking market vendors with a lively singing and production contest that showcased their creativity and community spirit.

Joshua Pal of the Libertad Market Vendors Association took home the grand championship and a P20,000 cash prize, impressing judges with his powerful vocals and stage presence.

Royce Lumangyao of Bacolod Central Market Vendors Association earned first runner-up, while the dynamic Burgos Bombers from United Burgos Market Association placed second.

Burgos Vegetable Dance Group claimed third, and the singing duo Dina Delacruz and Michael John Martinez from United Burgos Market Association finished fourth runner-up.

Festival Director Rodney Mitz Ascalon said, “This singing and production showdown is a perfect way to celebrate Market Day. Our vendors are not only hardworking but also talented performers who add life and color to Bacolod’s culture. This event truly honors their essential role in our community.”

Overall in charge Noel John Degomon added, “The market vendors are the heart of our city’s daily life. Their passion and dedication shine through in this contest, reminding us how vital they are not just economically, but culturally as well.”

Cash prizes awarded included P20,000 for the champion, P15,000 for first runner-up, P10,000 for second, P8,000 for third, P5,000 for fourth, and P2,000 in consolation prizes.*
