Bacolod City suspends lending of gov’t vehicles

• GILBERT P. BAYORAN

Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez has ordered the temporary suspension of the lending of Bacolod City government vehicles, following the involvement of the LGU’s tourist bus in a vehicular crash on June 14 in Don Salvador Benedicto, Negros Occidental.

The road crash claimed the life of a public school teacher and caused injuries to more than 30 others, majority of whom are teachers.

Benitez also ordered the General Services Office to conduct a regular checkup of all city government vehicles.

Benitez said there are still three victims who are still being treated for their injuries, in different hospitals.

He ordered a thorough investigation of the incident to ensure that it will not happen again.

The Bacolod City government has provided assistance to all the injured passengers.*
