Bacolod clears 30+ illegal structures in brgys 1, 2

• THERESA MAE DULMAN

The Bacolod City Legal Office (CLO) Enforcement Team carried out a clearing operation yesterday, removing more than 30 illegal structures located in Barangay 2 and Barangay 1.

The operation was conducted to provide the necessary clearance for a Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) drainage improvement project.

According to CLO Enforcement Head Retired Col. Levy Pangue, the residents were already informed 2 weeks prior to vacate the area, before the full execution of the clearing began yesterday.

He said that only 15 structures voluntarily removed their structures, while the 15 others were removed by the CLO.

Beyond the permanent and semi-permanent structures, the team also removed several trisikads that were found to be obstructing the public roadway.

Pangue expressed appreciation for the cooperation of the affected community members, which allowed the team to secure the site for the scheduled infrastructure work.

The DPWH is expected to begin the drainage repairs immediately to mitigate flooding concerns in the two barangays.*
