The Bacolod City Government has issued a warning to furniture vendors along Lopez Jaena Street in Barangay 27, Bacolod City, regarding the persistent obstruction of public roads.
City Legal Officer Atty. Karol Joseph Chiu said the notice stipulates that businesses may face closure if they fail to comply with regulations prohibiting the display of merchandise beyond their property lines.
This move follows multiple inspections by the City Legal Office (CLO) Enforcement Team, which reported that obstructions often reappear shortly after clearing operations are conducted.
Chiu stated that they are scheduled to meet with the Barangay Captain to discuss the situation.
He expressed hope that the captain could assist in coordinating with residents to ensure the roadway remains clear as he is also a business owner in the area.
The city government maintains that because Lopez Jaena is a major thoroughfare, these obstructions have a direct negative impact on the flow of local traffic.
In addition to the concerns in Barangay 27, the city government has monitored similar recurring obstructions along the circumferential road in Barangay Villamonte and other areas.
Business owners have been advised to monitor their storefronts and discourage illegal parking, such as tricycles, which contributes to road congestion.
The City Legal Office confirmed that notices of violation have already been served to non-compliant establishments.*
