A total of P8.8 million shipment of suspected shabu intended for the Sinulog Festival in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, was intercepted by the Bacolod City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) during a high-stakes buy-bust operation on Monday evening, January 12.
The sting operation, which took place at approximately 6:16 p.m. in Camella Subdivision, Barangay Mandalagan, Bacolod City, resulted in the seizure of roughly 1,300 grams of illegal drugs.
Authorities apprehended two suspects identified as Ramyr Obidos alias ‘Tata’, 53, a resident of the subdivision, tagged as high-value individual (HVI); and Anthony Tutor, 45, a street-level operative from Purok Paraiso, Brgy. Hilamonan, Kabankalan City.
CDEU head Lt. Col. Antonio Benitez Jr. said that the illegal drugs were possibly earmarked for distribution during the Sinulog festival in Kabankalan.
Police also recovered P6,000 in buy-bust money, 6 heat-sealed sachets containing suspected shabu, five knot-tied transparent plastic bags containing suspected shabu, and other non-drug items.
The suspects are currently detained at the Bacolod City Police Station 3 custodial facility.
They will be facing charges for the violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.*
