Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez yesterday ordered the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) to thoroughly investigate the death of 15-year-old Pearl Joy Galve, a Grade 10 student of Sum-ag National High School in Bacolod City, who was found dead on August 13, inside a sugarcane plantation at Hacienda San Roque, Barangay Cubay, La Carlota City, Negros Occidental
The minor was reported missing on July 29.
Benitez, who condemned the senseless death of Galve, said “this heinous act is a grave injustice.”
We will not rest until they are held accountable, he added.
Benitez also urged teenagers to exercise caution when interacting with others, especially with persons they do not know well.
Always inform your family members or any trusted adult of your whereabouts, he added.
In an interview with RMN DYHB, P/Capt. Michael Tuburan, Police Station 9 chief, said he believes that no abduction had taken place in the case of Galve.
Tuburan said their initial investigations indicated that the victim may have voluntarily gone with the suspect.*
