Bacolod cops, PDEA seize P204K in shabu

• THERESA MAE DULMAN

Law enforcement agencies conducted two anti-drug operations in Bacolod City, resulting in the dismantling of a drug den and the seizure of a street level individual, along with over P204,000 worth of suspected shabu.

On April 7, a joint task force led by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office-Negros Island Region and the PNP Drug Enforcement Group targeted a suspected drug den in Purok Nara Baybay, Barangay 8.

Operatives arrested three individuals: a 27-year-old identified as ‘John,’ the alleged maintainer; ‘Gerald,’ 45, and ‘Charlie,’ 35.

Authorities recovered 11 sachets of suspected shabu weighing roughly 10 grams, valued at P68,000.

Various drug paraphernalia, including glass tooters and tin foil, were also seized. The suspects face multiple charges under Republic Act 9165, covering the sale, maintenance, and possession of illegal substances.

In a separate incident early on April 8, the Bacolod City Police Office City Drug Enforcement Unit apprehended a 34-year-old suspect known as ‘Oteng’ in Barangay 1.

The suspect, who is currently listed as street-level under the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council, was caught after allegedly selling a sachet of suspected shabu to a poseur-buyer.

The operation yielded approximately 20 grams of the illegal substance with an estimated street value of P136,000.*
