The Police Regional Office Negros Island Region continues to reinforce its campaign against illegal drugs, as they successfully arrested a High-Value-Individual (HVI), which led to the seizure of P748,000 worth of suspected shabu on Tuesday at Purok Kabuhi, Barangay 10, Bacolod City.
Arrested were the 56-year-old tagged by the police as an HVI, identified by the alias ‘Wen,’ a resident of the barangay, and the 37-year-old street-level individual, alias ‘Pat,’ a resident of Purok Fire, Barangay 8.
The operation stemmed from information received from a confidential informant stating that the subject was actively involved in illegal drug activities across various barangays in the city.
Through coordination granted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), a buy-bust operation was conducted which led to the seizure of more or less 110 grams of suspected shabu with a standard drug price of P748,000.
With the victory against illegal drugs, Police Regional Director PBrig. Gen. Arnold Thomas Ibay emphasized that this accomplishment reflects the unwavering efforts of police units across the region to curb the proliferation of illegal drugs, commending the dedication and commitment of the operating troops.
“The fight against illegal drugs is a continuing priority of PRO NIR. We will not slow down, we will continue to strengthen our operations to ensure a safer and drug-free Negros Island Region,” he said.
The confiscated drug evidence was submitted to the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Forensic Unit for laboratory examination while the suspect remaine in police custody and will face criminal charges in violation of RA9165 otherwise known as Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.*
