BY GILBERT P. BAYORAN

Crime incidents in Bacolod City slightly dropped by about three percent for the month of July this year, compared to the same period of 2021.

PLt. Col. Sherlock Gabana, spokesperson of the Bacolod City Police Office, reported last night they recorded 117 incidents last month, compared to 121 incidents last year, a reduction of 3.3 percent in crime incidents.

On the other hand, the 8 Focus Crimes, composed of murder, homicide, homicide, physical injuries, rape, robbery, theft, and carnapping, remained at 22, similar to last year’s figures.

The BCPO however reported a slight increase in murder, robbery and rape cases

While the Crime Solution Efficiency of BCPO also reduced to 74.36 percent this year, compared to 92.56 percent last year, it still surpasses the BCPO target set by the PNP higher office at 66.41 percent.

The Average Monthly Crime Rate (AMCR) decreased by 3.31 percent, which recorded was at 19.77 per 100,000 population in July last year compared to 19.12 this year.

Gabana attributed the slight reduction in crime incidents and average monthly crime rate to the intensified police-initiated operations, focused police operations and crime prevention measures conducted by the various police units of BCPO.

He added that the regular conduct of Enhanced Managing Police Operations (EMPO) also helped discuss, address and apply appropriate and target-specific interventions in the reduction of crime incidents, especially the 8 Focus Crimes in Bacolod City.*
