Cases of dengue in Bacolod City continue to decrease this year, compared to cases covering the same period last year, from January 1 to August 26.

Records of the Bacolod City Health Office (CHO) showed that the total cases of dengue as of August 26 was 335, with three deaths.

This figure is 53.1 percent lower than cases last year, which was 715 with nine deaths.

The three reported deaths this year involve a nine-year-old female from Brgy. Villamonte; a 6-year-old female from Brgy. Tangub, and a 13-year-old male from Brgy. Mansilingan.

The barangays with clustering of cases from August 5 to 26 are as follows: Estefania, Singcang, Alijis, and Villamonte.

Despite the decrease in the cases of dengue, the CHO continues to conduct advocacies/information drive, larvicide application, fogging/space spraying in areas with clustering of cases and public places including schools in Handumanan, Singcang, and Taculing, among others.*
