Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia and Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran led the distribution of 1,000 food packs to members of an urban poor group and fisherfolk association in two distribution rites yesterday.
The city Department of Social Services and Development distributed 750 food packs to members of the Kalipunan ng Damayang Mahihirap urban poor group and to 250 members of the Bacolod Fisherfolks Federation, a press release from the city said.
The beneficiaries were residents of barangays 7, 16, Alijis, Bata, Banago, Mandalagan, Pahanocoy, Punta Taytay, Sum-ag, Taculing, and Tangub.
The distribution rites were held in barangays Banago and Taculing, each catering to members of the two sectors.
The food packs came from the Department of Social Welfare and Development Region 6 and were facilitated by the City Mayor’s Office and the DSSD.
Joining Leonardia and Familiaran at the two distribution activities were DSSD head Pacita Tero, executive assistants Butch Soliguen and Ernie Pineda, Banago Barangay Captain Ricky Mijares and other barangay officials.*
