Bacolod drug war nets P157M in a year

• THERESA MAE DULMAN

The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) reported a banner year in its anti-illegal drugs campaign, recording a total seizure worth P157,346,255 for the entire year of 2025.

Data released by the BCPO revealed that law enforcement units conducted a total of 597 successful buy-bust operations over the 12-month period.

The operations led to the apprehension of 785 drug personalities, including both street-level individuals and high-value targets.

In terms of the volume of prohibited substances removed from the streets, authorities recovered more than 22,900 grams of suspected shabu and over 12,600 grams of marijuana.

A comparative analysis of the city’s drug enforcement data shows a significant 47.6 percent increase in the value of confiscated drugs in 2025 compared to the P106,589,614.56 recorded in 2024.

The BCPO attributed the results to enhanced intelligence gathering, community coordination, and the collaborative support of other law enforcement agencies.

As the city enters 2026, police are urging the public to remain vigilant and continue reporting illegal activities to help maintain a drug-free Bacolod.*
