The Bacolod Film Festival (BFF) 2025 officially opened its doors for public viewing as the eight short films created by homegrown filmmakers were showcased during the screening held at Ayala Malls Capitol Central yesterday.
The opening program was highlighted by the presence of Mayor Greg Gasataya, chairman of the BFF Council, and Councilor Em Ang, who authored the ordinance creating the film festival.
Ang noted that the BFF 2025 is a crucial component of Bacolod City’s ongoing campaign to be designated a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization Creative City for Film.
She said that they tried to apply for 2026 but didn’t make it on time, and now they are preparing for the 2027 bid.
“I hope that through our festival, we can produce more talents in the film and creative network representing Bacolod,” Ang said.
The film showing will continue to run until November 29, which will be the Awards Night for the participants.
“We make it a point to continue this program to make our creative people express and give an avenue to them,” Gasataya said.
Each filmmaker received a P100,000 grant from the city.*
