Bacolod fire destroys 26 structures, damage valued at P520K

A fire broke out in a residential area of Purok Magnolia, Barangay 7, Bacolod City, yesterday, resulting in an estimated P520,000 worth of property damage.

According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)  – Bacolod, the blaze affected an area of approximately 2,080 square meters and a total of 26 structures, where 21 was listed as totally damaged and 5 as partially damaged.

Department of Social Services and Development head Dr. Richelle Verdeprado-Mangga reported that the incident displaced 81 families, or 198 individuals, as of press time.

They are now temporarily sheltered at the ABES 2 Senior High School building.

Barangay Captain Hercy Sibug noted that the barangay has already recorded 4 fire incidents and the area has been designated as a red zone.

The BFP confirmed that there were no casualties, however, Sibug said that 2 siblings sustained burns.
