Bacolod fire displaces 149 residents

A fire razed a residential pocket in Purok Tambipalad, Barangay 10, Bacolod City, on Saturday afternoon, January 24, displacing 149 individuals.

The Department of Social Services and Development reported that 30 family owned houses were totally destroyed while 4 were partially damaged.

Also affected were 30 individual renters and 1 family sharer.

The estimated cost of the damage to the structures was placed at approximately P237,500.

The Bacolod Bureau of Fire Protection reported that the blaze broke out at approximately 2:19 p.m. and quickly escalated to a third alarm as it tore through the densely populated neighborhood.

The flames spread across an estimated 950 square meters before firefighters declared the situation under control and eventually fire out at 3:28 p.m.

Authorities confirmed that no injuries or fatalities were reported during the incident.

SINGCANG-AIRPORT FIRE

Five families were affected by a fire that broke out at a residential area in Purok 3 Batad, Sitio Magsungay, Barangay Singcang-Airport, Bacolod City, yesterday afternoon.

Although no injuries or fatalities were reported among the 13 affected individuals, the blaze totally destroyed two structures and partially damaged another, resulting in an estimated property loss of P15,000.

The Bureau of Fire Protection responded within three minutes, raising a first alarm at 4:44 p.m. and successfully declaring a fire out by 4:59 p.m.*
