To ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of fire hydrants during emergencies, PrimeWater and Bacolod City Water District (Baciwa) led a joint inspection of fire hydrants, together with the Bureau of Fire Protection Bacolod City, at the downtown area on Friday.
The inspection was conducted in the presence of the Bacolod City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and City Planning and Development Office where a total of 14 hydrants were tested.
According to BFP Public Information Officer FO2 Paul Servano, the pressure of water released by the hydrants can produce up to 10,000 liters of water within 5-10 minutes and it was said to be more efficient and reliable than their last inspection.
The development of water pressure in the hydrants can be a huge help for the firefighters when large fire incidents happen, Servano said.
Based on the record there are about 130 fire hydrants located within the area of Bacolod City. The BFP is set to inspect additional hydrants on the following days.
“This inspection aims to assess the functionality and accessibility of fire hydrants to ensure adequate water supply in case of fire emergencies,” BFP said.*
