Bacolod firemen help deliver baby

• RICHARD T. CABALLERO JR.

A 22-year-old woman in the second stage of labor was assisted by responders from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in delivering her baby on-site at around 10 a.m. on Saturday in front of the Bacolod City Central Fire Station.

BFP Bacolod City Spokesperson FO2 Paul Servano reported that the patient was aboard a tricycle, experiencing active labor, but was unable to reach the nearest hospital, forcing her to seek assistance at the fire station.

Responding promptly, the emergency team facilitated a safe and successful delivery at the scene, bringing the newborn into the world.

The mother was identified as Conrada Alisbo, a 22-year-old resident of Barangay Singcang-Airport.

Servano added that, according to Alisbo, she had traveled to Barangay Bata the night before, for reasons unknown. The following morning, she rode a tricycle going to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) as she was undergoing labor.

However, the tricycle encountered mechanical trouble along the way. The driver attempted to push the vehicle to reach CLMMRH, but due to her labor progressing rapidly, Alisbo stopped in front of the fire station and immediately sought assistance from the firefighters.

Mother and her newborn daughter were safely transported to the hospital for further medical evaluation. The baby is reported to be in good health.*
