The Department of Tourism Region VI, under its Tourism Industry Skills Program, in collaboration with the Local Government Unit of Bacolod City, through its Bacolod City Tourism Office, successfully conducted the Community Guiding Seminar from July 28 to August 3 in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, a press release from the Bacolod City Tourism Office said.
Bacolod, known as the City of Smiles, is home to warm hospitality, vibrant culture, and beloved local dishes such as chicken inasal, kansi, and napoleones – unforgettable treats for any visitor.
The week-long seminar equipped the new tour guides with essential knowledge and skills through expert-led sessions: Tourism Overview / Structure of the Tourism Industry – Artemio Ticar; Components of the Local Tourist Product – Teresa Manalili, Liana Reynes, and Darwin Sales;
Leave No Trace: Basic Outdoor Principles, Flora and Fauna – Aris Niel Cristales; Tourist Safety / Basic First Aid – Bureau of Fire Protection Bacolod City;
Roles and Responsibilities of a Tour Guide, including: Communication Skills, Human and Customer Relations, Practical Application of Tour Guiding Techniques, Do’s and Don’ts, General Subject Knowledge, and the National Code of Ethics for Professional Tour Guides – Erlyn Alunan; and Filipino Brand of Service Excellence – Sofia Celeste Sarino.*
