The Diocese of Bacolod celebrated its first feast of Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno at the Queen of Peace Parish-Redemptorist in Bacolod City yesterday.
It was in November 2024 when the Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Jesus Nazareno-Quiapo Church (Archdiocese of Manila) gave the sacred image to the Diocese of Bacolod as a gift and had it enshrined at the Queen of Peace Parish-Redemptorist
Some of the activities highlighted by the celebration was a vigil mass and ‘pahalik’ to honor the replica image of Jesus Nazareno that was installed at the main altar of the San Sebastian Cathedral ahead of the fiesta. Hundreds of devotees lined up after the mass to pay homage to the replica image of Jesus Nazareno at the main altar of the Cathedral. The devotees took time to hold the hand of the image, since kissing was strictly prohibited.
At 4 a.m. on the feast day, a Traslacion of the image of Jesus Nazareno from the San Sebastian Cathedral going to Queen of Peace Parish-Redemptorist was joined by hundreds of devotees and priests and seminarians. The Traslacion also passed by the Sacred Heart Shrine before reaching the Queen of Peace Parish.
Bacolod Bishop Patricio Buzon presided over the fiesta mass in honor of Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno in the afternoon, together with Queen of Peace Parish-Redemptorist parish priest Fr. Mitchel Guadalupe and Fr. Narciso Dela Cruz.*
