Ethan Jervey Dayne Chavez, a Grade 9 student of St. Scholastica’s Academy, Hanah Taekwondo Academy mainstay and a former international bronze medalist, has been selected again by the Philippine Taekwondo Association to be part of the National Taekwondo Team set to participate in the upcoming 16th ASEAN Taekwondo Federation Championships on March 10 to 12, at the Ayala Malls by the Bay, Parañaque City, Metro Manila.
Chavez, will be given another shot to get a gold medal in an international competition after settling for a bronze medal in the Asian Cadet Championships in Vietnam last year, a press release issued the DAILY STAR said.
“I am religiously following the training given to me by my coaches and the diet provided to me by my nutritionist. I also will be doing my best come competition time and pray that God will give me the strength and wisdom I need to beat all of my opponents,” Chavez said.
Vic Feria, of the Hanah Taekwondo Academy and Chavez’s coach, said that the strengthening and conditioning of Ethan is the topmost priority to him for now as the international competition requires an athlete to play multiple games in a day which will be exhausting to most of the participants.
Feria added that he is very proud that Ethan has been selected again to participate in international competitions and hope that his other students would also emulate Ethan so they too will be selected to the National Taekwondo Team.
Those who are interested to join Hanah Taekwondo Academy are invited to visit their gym at the third floor of Lopue’s East Centre Main Building, Brgy Villamonte, Bacolod City or may call 09338733267, he added.*
