
Taekwondo jins from Bacolod City brought home four gold medals, one silver, and one bronze from the 46th National Taekwondo Championships held on July 22 to 23, at the Music Hall of the Mall of Asia in Pasay City.
The Santillan brothers namely Colton Graye and Dondy Jr., won a gold medal each, easily handling their opponents in their respective categories.
Katherine Mandal from St. Scholastica’s Academy added another gold medal while she overpowered all competitors in her category with her high kicks and overwhelming speed and accuracy.
Zyx Marisse Geocadin from the National Academy of Sports delivered another gold medal as she was able to come back from a six-point deficit with only 7 seconds remaining in her final match. She was able to connect a 3-point head kick with 7 seconds left and another turning head kick for 5-points with only 1 second remaining in the match.
Joshua Emmanuel Deita from Colegio San Agustin Bacolod settled for a silver medal when the referee declared his opponent the winner of their match, after a punch accidentally connected with the latter’s opponent’s face.
Zane Vincent Olivo from St. Scholastica’s Academy settled for a bronze medal after suffering a loss in his semi-final match.*
