Bacolod officially launched its quick response (QR) code system for infrastructure projects across the city, aimed to promote transparency.
City Engineer’s Office (CEO) Officer-in-Charge Engr. Loben Ceballos explained that the system allows the public to access comprehensive project information and submit comments simply by scanning the codes.
The QR codes will be featured on standardized project billboards, though the system is currently limited to newly launched infrastructure.
Loben said that the QR code will be posted online to be more accessible to those who cannot go to the construction area.
The digital tool was developed through a collaboration between the CEO and the Management Information Technology and Communications Services (MITCS).
According to MITCS Officer-in-Charge Edrian Roel Robete, real-time project updates will also be accessible via QR links posted on the city government’s official online platforms.
The initiative is based on the Executive Order No. 39, which mandates the establishment of project transparency through standardized billboards and an online progress monitoring system.*
