Mayor Greg Gasataya has announced that the solar power installation projects across 17 barangays sites in the city are now 50 percent operational.
The initiative covers the Bacolod City Government Center, along with a wide range of facilities including the barangay halls of Alijis, Mansilingan, Estefania, Pahanocoy, Handumanan, Cabug, Felisa, Tangub, Punta Taytay, and Granada, as well as the public market in Sum-ag, the gyms and Brgy. Hall in Taculing and Villamonte, and the evacuation and housing hubs in Singcang-Airport and Vista Alegre, as well as Rizal Elementary School in Barangay 16.
The city government has set a target for these systems to be 100 percent installed and fully functional by May.
While progress remains steady, Gasataya identified several technical challenges that must be addressed to reach full capacity.
He said the hurdles include the finalization of net metering and the replacement of transformers, which is costly.*
