In a move to enhance transparency and public accountability, the Bacolod City government will soon be implementing a new system that will place quick response (QR) codes on all city projects related to infrastructure.
Mayor Greg Gasataya stated that the QR codes will provide an immediate access to information about each of the city-funded projects.
“We are doing this in the aspect of transparency and improving the services to the people,” Gasataya said.
By scanning the code with a smartphone, the public will be able to view details such as the project’s title, its allocated budget, the duration, and project engineer in-charge, and a space for public complaints.
The mayor emphasized that this initiative aims to ensure that public funds are utilized efficiently.
The scope of the QR codes will only include city-funded programs of the Bacolod City Engineer’s Office and other offices.*
