The Bacolod City Health Office recorded two more deaths due to leptospirosis as of August 10, bringing the total number of deaths in the city to six.
The recent fatalities were a 47-year-old male construction worker from Barangay Pahanocoy and a 24-year-old male IT graduate from Brgy. Estefania.
Records from the CHO showed that there were 15 suspected leptospirosis cases in Bacolod from January 1 to August 10. This is a decrease of 76.2 percent compared to last year, covering the same period, which recorded 63 cases and 10 deaths.
The barangays with the highest recorded cases of leptospirosis are Brgys. 35, Pahanocoy, and Punta-Taytay with two cases each, and Vista Alegre, Alijis, Mansilingan, Mandalagan, Felisa, Estefania, Brgys. 6, 12, and 39, all with one case each.*
