Bacolod logs less fires, but 6 fatalities in 2025

The Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP) recorded a significant reduction of fire incidents in Bacolod City last year, although compared to 2024, there was an increase in the number of injured persons and fatalities.

In a report, the BFP said it logged 202 fire incidents last year, compared to 295 in 2024.

The injured individuals, however, rose from 14 in 2024 to 16 last year. Fatalities also increased from one to six in the same period.

The value of damage due to fire last year was recorded at P33,462,230, compared to P57,316,114 in 2024, the BFP-Bacolod report further indicated.

The top causes of fire was structural at 147, which was mostly triggered by electrical ignition, open flame from candles and others, such as lighted mosquito coil and heat convection genset; non structural at 35, being was also blamed on electrical ignition, open flame from burning, agricultural land clearing operation; as well as vehicular at 20 due to flooded carburetor, electrical ignition and battery circuits.

The BFP-Bacolod report recorded 27 fire incidents in August, 24 in October, 22 in July, 20 in April, 19 in December, 17 in November, 14 each for February and May, 13 in March, 11 each in January and June, and 10 incidents in September.*
