Bacolod Mayor Greg Gasataya appealed for cooperation among all sectors to address traffic and road safety concerns during the National Road Safety Month 2026 activity held at the Bacolod City Police Office on May 25, a press release from the Bacolod City Communications Office said.

The activity gathered traffic personnel and representatives from various agencies involved in traffic management and road safety.

In his message, Gasataya said the activity is timely as traffic problems continue to pose daily challenges in the city.

“As the number of people and vehicles continues to grow, the challenge becomes even bigger,” he said, stressing the need for cooperation among all sectors to improve road safety and traffic management.

“We need to help one another, cooperate, and involve all concerned sectors in the process,” the mayor added.

Earlier, the city employed the services of retired police officer and former barangay kagawad Dennis Perma as consultant for the Bacolod Traffic and Transportation Management Department (BTTMD). The City Engineer’s Office also continues to repair and install new traffic lights in strategic areas.

The joint activity also aims to help participating agencies better understand and strengthen the implementation of traffic rules and regulations.

These include policies enforced by the Land Transportation Office (LTO), Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), Philippine National Police (PNP), Bacolod Traffic and Transport Management Department (BTTMD), Highway Patrol Group (HPG), Department of Transportation (DOTr), and the Bacolod City Government.

As part of the National Road Safety Month celebration, Bacolod City is conducting activities such as road safety seminars and a citywide motorcade led by the LTO-NIR, LTO, and local government officials.

The campaign aims to promote responsible road use, reduce accidents, and encourage motorists and pedestrians to follow traffic laws for everyone’s safety.*
