The Bacolod Meetings and Conventions Promotions Board (MICE Council) successfully conducted its 2nd MICE Council Meeting on May 13, at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC), bringing together key representatives from the tourism and hospitality sectors to discuss collaborative initiatives for the continued development of Bacolod as a premier MICE destination.
According to a press release, present during the meeting were representatives from various sectors, including Sheryl Moraña of Roy’s Hotel and Convention Center for the hotels sector; Greg Flores of ALTTA representing the travel and tours sector; Ajie Pedalino of SMX Convention Center Bacolod for convention facilities; Martina Zayco of HRANO representing the food sector; and Femmy Lee Magbanua of Merzci representing the souvenirs and pasalubong sector.
Also in attendance were officials from the City Government of Bacolod, led by Councilor Jason Villarosa, chairperson of the SP Committee on Tourism, who presided over the meeting, along with the representative of Councilor Bobby Rojas, chairperson of the SP Committee on Trade, Commerce and Industry, represented by Yvonne Buscado.
Representatives from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), headed by Engiemar Tupas, also participated in the meeting. The Bacolod City Tourism Development Office was likewise present, headed by Ma. Teresa Manalili, Chief Tourism Operations Officer, together with Meneil Lopez-Poquiz, Supervising Tourism Operations Officer; Liana Reynes, Tourism Operations Officer II; and Darlwin Sales, Tourism Operations Officer I.
The meeting focused on the council’s upcoming plans and collaborative initiatives, particularly the proposed creation and development of the Bacolod MICE Alliance- a unified partnership between the public and private sectors aimed at further strengthening Bacolod’s position as one of the country’s emerging Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) destinations.*
