Bacolod North tankers dominate Abanse Negrense swimfest

Bacolod City North teams (Bacolod City North Swimming Team, Bacolod City North Bluefins, and Bacolod North La Herencia) reigned supreme in the recently concluded Abanse Negrense Swimming Tournament Provincial Championship held at the Sta. Fe Resort in Brgy. Granada, Bacolod City on December 8.

Among thirteen teams from different LGUs that participated in the championship match, the Bacolod City North Team swimmers ranked first in 31 out of the 36 events, giving them the most wins during the championship tournament. The team was composed of Bacolod City North Swimming Team, Bacolod City North Bluefins, and Bacolod North La Herencia. 

The team won in the following events: Boys 10 and Under 200 LC (Long Course) Meter Individual Medley, Girls 10 and Under 200 LC Meter Individual Medley, Boys 11-12 200 LC Meter Individual Medley, Girls 11-12 200 LC Meter Individual Medley, Girls 13-15 200 LC Meter Individual Medley, Boys 10 and Under 50 LC Meter Freestyle, Girls 10 and Under 50 LC Meter Freestyle, Boys 11-12 100 LC Meter Freestyle, Girls 11-12 100 LC Meter Freestyle, Girls 13-15 100 LC Meter Freestyle, Boys 10 and Under 50 LC Meter Breaststroke, Girls 10 and Under 50 LC Meter Breaststroke, Boys 11-12 100 LC Meter Breaststroke, Girls 11-12 100 LC Meter Breaststroke, Girls 13-15 100 LC Meter Breaststroke, Boys 10 and Under 100 LC Meter Freestyle, and Girls 10 and Under 100 LC Meter Freestyle. 

In addition, the Bacolod City North Team also ranked first in Boys 11-12 200 LC Meter Freestyle, Girls 11-12 200 LC Meter Freestyle, Boys 13-15 200 LC Meter Freestyle, Girls 13-15 200 LC Meter Freestyle, Boys 10 and Under 50 LC Meter Backstroke, Girls 10 and Under 50 LC Meter Backstroke, Boys 11-12 100 LC Meter Backstroke, Girls 11-12 100 LC Meter Backstroke, Girls 13-15 100 LC Meter Backstroke, Boys 10 and Under 50 LC Meter Butterfly, Girls 10 and Under 50 LC Meter Butterfly, Boys 11-12 100 LC Meter Butterfly, Girls 11-12 100 LC Meter Butterfly, and Girls 13-15 100 LC Meter Butterfly. 

The Victorias City Swimming Team also ranked first in the Boys 13-15 200 LC Meter Individual Medley, Boys 13-15 100 LC Meter Breaststroke, and the Boys 13-15 100 LC Meter Butterfly. Silay Gators Swim Team nabbed the first place rank in the Boys 13-15 100 LC Meter Freestyle and Boys 13-15 100 LC Meter Backstroke. 

Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and Provincial Sports Office head Anthony Carlo Agustin led the awarding ceremonies.

Lacson acknowledged the parents for supporting their children’s passion for swimming. He added that the Province of Negros Occidental has contributed to the pool of national swimming athletes, mentioning the contributions to the development of the athletes.*
