Bacolod City breached the 1,000-mark with 1,216 COVID-19 positive cases as of yesterday surpassing the total number in the 31 towns and cities of Negros Occidental at 1,152 cases, the Department of Health reported.
Bacolod is now ranked No. 1 in Western Visayas with the most number of COVID-19 positive cases, followed by Negros Occidental, Iloilo City with 984, Iloilo province – 790, Capiz – 148, Guimaras – 90, Antique – 45, and Aklan – 29.
Bacolod City recorded an all-time high 241 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday and Sunday, while Negros Occidental had 81 new cases.
The DOH said the weekend figures did not include results from the COVID-19 mass testing in Bacolod and Negros Occidental yet.
The DOH also reported four new COVID-19 deaths in Bacolod City, bringing the total to 22, while Negros Occidental’s remained at eight.
Of Bacolod’s COVID-19 cases, five have recently recovered while there were 70 in Negros Occidental, the DOH reported.
Meanwhile, a Bureau of Internal Revenue advisory yesterday said its Bacolod offices will be closed from Tuesday to Friday for disinfection, and regular operations will resume on September 7.*
