President Rodrigo Duterte last night placed Bacolod City under General Community Quarantine, while Negros Occidental and Oriental will remain under Modified GCQ.

In a late-night public address, the president approved the quarantine status recommendations of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases that will be in effect from September 1 to 30.

Bacolod’s MGCQ status was reverted back to GCQ, which entails stricter quarantine measures amid the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the city.

Bacolod City had 69 new COVID-19 positive cases and three deaths, the Department of Health reported yesterday. This brings to 1,285 its total number of COVID-19 cases with 25 deaths.

Negros Occidental had three new COVID-19 positive cases, bringing its total to 1,155, the DOH added.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia at past midnight issued Executive Order No. 57 Series of 2020 placing Bacolod City under GCQ from September 1 to 30.

The EO states that Home Quarantine Passes will be issued to limit the movement of residents, mass gatherings are prohibited, curfew will be from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. to allow employees enough time to commute home after work, and that the sale of liquor will be allowed from 12 a.m. to 6 p.m. only.

Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson issued an executive order yesterday afternoon extending the duration of the MGCQ over Negros Occidental until September 15.

Executive Order No. 20-43, Series of 2020, also sets a moratorium on all domestic flights and sea travel into Negros Occidental starting today until September 7, the governor said.

All quarantine facilities of Negros Occidental will be used to accommodate the influx of positive cases as a result of the Timeout Weekend mass testing for COVID-19 conducted in Talisay, Silay and Bago cities and Murcia town, he said.

Lacson said because of that, there will be no adequate quarantine facilities ready to hold returning Negrense overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and locally stranded individuals (LSIs).*
