The Bacolod City government has announced a push to complete the rehabilitation of the Bacolod City Public Plaza and the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) within the next two months, targeting a deadline no later than July.
According to Mayor Greg Gasataya, the infrastructure project was originally scheduled for completion last year, under the contract with the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA).
However, an extension was requested, which shifted the timeline to this year.
Gasataya stated that the city is rushing the improvements for both sites, which began in January of last year, emphasizing that the city government intends to finish the works by the end of June or no later than July rather than waiting for the annual MassKara Festival.
Out of the total P300 million funding package, P80 million was allocated for the Bacolod Heritage Plaza, while P220 million was earmarked for the Bacolod City Government Center.*
