The Bacolod City government distributed P665,000 in financial aid yesterday, to support 64 families across three barangays, affected by a series of fire incidents.
The payout, conducted under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program, provided tiered cash grants, based on the level of property damage sustained by the victims.
The city’s Department of Social Service and Development released P15,000 each to 26 families with totally damaged homes, P10,000 each to 17 families with partially damaged residences, and P5,000 each to 15 renters and 6 sharers.
A fire in Purok Lampirong, Barangay 2, on March 5, displaced 32 families, composed of 20 totally damaged households, 9 partially damaged, 2 renters, and 1 sharer, who received a combined P405,000 in assistance.
In Barangay 10, the department identified 6 totally destroyed homes, 4 partially damaged, 13 renters, and 1 sharer.
Meanwhile, Barangay Singcang-Airport recorded 4 families with partially damaged homes and 4 sharers.
Mayor Greg Gasataya said they will also provide GI sheets to the fire victims to assist in their recovery.
He is giving the affected residents the option to either move to a relocation site or rebuild their homes in the same area.*
