The Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bacolod City has passed a resolution requesting a P70 million in financial assistance from Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri.

The funding is specifically requested to be allocated for the completion of Phase 7 of the Bacolod Multipurpose Building and Bacolod Museum.

The construction of the Bacolod Museum, a project supported by Zubiri, sustained damage to its exterior during the recent onslaught of Typhoon Tino, Councilor Jason Isidro Villarosa, chairman of the committee on Tourism, confirmed.

Villarosa said that Zubiri’s office requested the SP to pass the resolution.

“They [Zubiri’s office] have shown an intent to add more budget for our museum, coliseum, and general hospital for the completion,” Villarosa said.

The facility is part of the larger Bacolod Multipurpose Building and Bacolod Museum complex.

According to previous reports, Senator Zubiri has been a consistent champion of the project, having previously committed significant funds to the museum.

Villarosa added that they also requested a separate budget of P100 million for the Bacolod General Hospital project.

Villarosa said that the goal is to complete the facility before the Batang Pinoy 2026, which Bacolod is set to host.*
