The Bacolod City Government distributed P4,167,000 in cash incentives to delegates following their overall championship sweep at the inaugural Negros Island Region Athletic Association Meet 2026.
A total of 475 athletes were rewarded based on medal standing with each gold medalist receiving P5,000, silver medalists earned P4,000, and bronze medalists took home P3,000.
Among the recipients was Grade 11 athlete Isabella Unna Ejercito, who earned six gold and two silver medals in Archery and received the highest individual incentive of P38,000.
Beyond individual athletes, coaches were awarded up to P7,000 for gold medals, with team event winners receiving both personal incentives and additional collective allocations.
Assistant coaches and chaperones earned between P2,000 and P5,000, based on their team’s podium finish.
Dedicated trainers were also recognized for their vital roles, receiving cash rewards ranging from P1,500 for bronze to P4,000 for gold.
Bacolod Mayor Greg Gasataya said that they also committed to Department of Education Regional Director that they are willing to support delegates representing Negros Island Region for the Palaro.
The city government continues to support 188 Bacolod qualifiers for the Palarong Pambansa 2026 in Agusan del Sur on May 24.*
