Bacolod sees steady growth in tourism

Bacolod City continues to thrive as one of the best tourist destinations, with significant growth in both local and foreign arrivals in 2025, a press release from the Bacolod City Communications Office said.

Tourism data show a 4.83 percent increase in visitor arrivals with 873,573 total visitors this year compared to 2024 which had 833,345. Domestic tourists numbered 813,625, reflecting a 5.11 percent rise from the previous year’s 774,084, while foreign arrivals reached 60,525, a 2.21 percent increase in contrast to 59,216 in the year 2024. These figures are based on reports from local hotels and accommodations.

Tourism receipts for 2025 have accumulated to P6,551,812,500, with  peak months recorded in October, November, and December, while June, July, and September experienced lower economic returns.

The city has seen a 77 percent increase in MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions) attendees, reaching 279,200 this year from 157,126 in 2024.

Harold Geronimo, First Vice President of Megaworld Corporation expressed optimism about Bacolod’s tourism trajectory.

“We are optimistic that Mayor Greg [Gasataya] is focused on tourism right now. This is good news for Bacolod because the city can truly benefit from the growth of tourism. It has a triple effect on local businesses, hotels, and local artisans. We are excited about the programs and eager to contribute ideas to support our city’s progress.”

He reiterated the Tourism Council’s concerns, particularly in transportation costs, lighting and road conditions, as local officials and private partners are working together to address these challenges. The enhancements in the airport and seaport to street lighting aim to make the city more accessible and safer for visitors.

Bacolod City Mayor Greg Gasataya’s focus on tourism development aligns with the city’s vision to showcase Bacolod’s unique charm and boost economic growth.

With ongoing initiatives and the collective efforts of government and the private sector, Bacolod is poised for continued growth in tourism, benefitting residents and visitors alike.*
