Bacolod City Mayor Greg Gasataya announced on Tuesday that the city government is donating P2 million to Bogo City, Cebu, to aid in the recovery efforts following the recent 6.9 magnitude earthquake.
Gasataya stated that they will turn over the donation once the paperwork is finalized.
He added that they opted to donate cash as it is more convenient.
The donation will be sourced from the city’s funds.
In the aftermath of the earthquake, 20 personnel were sent to Cebu by the Bureau of Fire Protection – Negros Island Region, with 4 coming from Bacolod.
Those personnel assisted in search and retrieval operations.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental also donated P2 million to the same local government unit.*
