Bacolod softball team ends world series run

• RICHARD T. CABALLERO JR.

After a close fight against the Central Region team, the Asia-Pacific, represented by a team from Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, ended their journey as they fell short in the Junior League World Softball Series at Kirkland, Washington, in the USA.

Bacolod, the number 4 seed in Pool B, failed to enter the next round of the tournament after being unable to snatch a win against the Central Region, who are currently seated as the number 1 seed in the Pool A bracket, ending an intense game with a 5-4 score.

Junior softball series rules run as a single-elimination championship bracket, which means all it takes is one loss.

During their previous game in the tournament, the Bacolodnon softbelles claimed a big win as they defeated Palo Cedro, California (West), in a decisive 6-3 victory with a solid pitching game.

Meanwhile, the Bagonhon softbelles, who are currently representing the Philippines and the Asia-Pacific in the Seniors League World Softball Series in Delaware, USA, lost their game in the Seniors League World Softball Series yesterday.

The Bago Softbelles fell short in their fourth game, against the home team, Roxana, Delaware, in an intense and close matchup that resulted in a 3-2 score in favor of the latter.

Despite the loss, the Bagonhon softball team is set to enter the next round of the tournament starting today, having won 3 out of their 4 games in the elimination round.

The tournament commenced on Monday and will wrap up on Sunday.*
