The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod wants to know the status of the P119 million Bayanihan grant that the city has received from the national government.

In a resolution, the SP is asking the City Accountant, City Treasurer, and City Budget Officer, through the Office of the Mayor, to furnish it an update on the status of the grant from its receipt until Sept. 15.

During its Sept. 10 virtual session, Councilor Wilson Gamboa Jr. made a motion requesting the budget officer to submit a liquidation report of the P119 million Bayanihan grant.

While Gamboa’s motion was not part of its regular agenda, and was made when the session was about to adjourn, the SP members acknowledged that the subject matter can be re-filed by the next session.

To dispel all malicious interpretations and insinuations and to emphasize that all members are one for transparency and accountability, Councilor Archie Baribar authored a resolution asking concerned city officials for an update on the status (expenditures and balance) of the P119 million Bayanihan grant.

Co-authors of the resolution are councilors Cindy Rojas, Israel Salanga, Carlos Jose Lopez, Bart Orola, Simplicia Distrito, Ana Marie Palermo, Al Victor Espino, and Elmer Sy.*
