A resolution strongly condemning the assassination and murder of Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo and civilians, and sending condolences to the families of the victims of the atrocities and evil acts, was unanimously passed by the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod yesterday.
The resolution authored by Councilor Claudio Puentevella said that last March 4, Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo, a dedicated public servant was murdered by armed men in broad daylight while rendering public services to his constituents.
Such evil and callous acts left nine people dead and wounded several civilians, it said.
The City Government of Bacolod strongly condemns the callous, barbaric and evil acts, which has no place in a civilized and democratic society, the resolution said.
The City of Bacolod stands in solidarity and sending its condolences to the families of the victims and to the people of Negros Oriental and calls the authorities to render a swift action to put the perpetrators to justice, it added.*
